Christmas Time
We had such a fun Christmas. Watching the Princess' open all their gifts and enjoy the day was so wonderful. Princess R seemed very confused at what was going on, but she sure enjoyed it!

Christmas Caroling
We spend lots of time teaching the Princess' "We Wish You A Merry Christmas". So Saturday night we were all feeling well, and had baked some treats, so we headed out to the neighbors. Sadly only 1 of the 3 neighbors were home, so we only got to sing once, but the girls really had a lot of fun! Here they are, all dressed up and ready to do some caroling.
The Nutcracker Ballet
Princess V and I had the wonderful opportunity to go see the Nutcracker Ballet. I have fond memories of going to the ballet with my mom as a little girl, and I wanted to share the memory with Princess V. We got even luckier when Aunt A wanted to come too! We had so much fun. Here we are just waiting for them to start.
This is her "grumpy" face. She was being camera shy, and refused to smile. Ah well, I think it's pretty cute!
Princess R
Princes R is really growing fast! In the past month she has learned to sit up on her own, crawl, and climb. Thankfully climbing is still limited since she's not walking, but we've had a few tumbles off the step stool and while trying to get on the couch. Any day now she will be cruising the furniture! When Princess R sees something she wants she doesn't give up until she gets it.
Turns out she really likes this singing dog.
And she absolutely LOVES the vacuum! She crawls after it, making it difficult to get the whole floor cleaned.

D is for Dance
Thursday this week Princess V had her Christmas Dance Demo. It was lots of fun and I am so impressed with how well she is doing. Her teacher said this is her best class and she believes because at their young age they want to impress and will actually follow the teacher (where the other classes like to try their own things).
Here is their tap dance to I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
And their ballet to Toyland
While we were there I got Princess C registered! Her Christmas present this year is dance classes. I know she is going to love it (yes that's her crying in the background because she isn't dancing.)
D is for Daddy
This weeks letter is D. It's been a bit of a struggle with Princess V. For some reason she has a hard time getting D's and B's straight with their sounds. I guess they sound similar, so I kind of get it. I'm just not sure how to help her see and hear the difference (ideas are welcome!).
We had fun Tuesday reading
And then doodling some pictures for Daddy. I liked this book, but I think it's more for older children. There's some play on words or made up words that my girls really just didn't get.
So far this week we have also gone to Lowes to look at Doors (it was tons of fun!) and played some Dreidel.

Giveaway!
I don't normally do this, but I'm getting more into the blog world and think if I can find some good deals for you my readers (and friends) then I'd like to help you out! Two boys + 1 girl = 1 crazy mom is giving away a Sesame Street Video Game!!! She has up for grabs either an Elmo A-Z game or Cookie Monster counting game

These look really fun and I think could really help children with their letters and numbers!!
Now mind you I've entered and would like to win, but go ahead and head on over to blog to enter yourself!
Letter C
Last week we focused on the letter C. I didn't get a whole lot of pictures, and there were some things I wanted to do but we didn't get around to. So here is a little run down of what we did do.
Tuesday we talked about clouds. I found this great website with a cloud experiment, unfortunately that was the thing we never had time to do.http://eo.ucar.edu/webweather/cloudact1.html Here is the link to the site if any of you would like to try it out! (if you do I'd love to hear about it!)
Wednesday we watched some cartoons (gasp! yes I just couldn't think of anything else. It was not a full day though just so you know!)
Thursday we played catch while spelling words that started with C. Things like cat , catch, Chloe, cow and Christmas. The girls really loved this activity. Princess C has gotten much better at catching a ball.
Friday we cleaned! The Princess' bedroom has been a mess for awhile, so friday we cleaned and organized it. You can read more about that adventure on my other blog Home Maid Simple.
Saturday we went to a Christmas party at our church where we got to eat breakfast and see Santa.
Sunday we went to Church!

C is for Cookie
And Chloe and Christmas
Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, and we've had a week to recuperate, we're back on track with our letters. To introduce the letter C, what better way then watching Cookie Monster sing his best song - C is for cookie. Princess V even chimed in with "good enough for me". We practiced writing C's, and then we finished the day making peppermint cookies and eating some!
Here's the recipe we used -
3/4 cup Shortening
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 TBS Milk
1 TBS vanilla Extract
1 large egg
2 cups All Purpose Flour
1 Tsp Salt
3/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup crushed peppermint candies (we used baking peppermint chips)
Directions
1. Beat shortening, brown sugar, sugar, milk and vanilla. Beat in egg. Combine flour, salt and baking soda in seperate bowl. Mix into shortening mixture. Stir in crushed candy. Shape into 1 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet
2.Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool and enjoy.

B and Thanksgiving
The week of Thanksgiving was the letter B. As such, we didn't get a whole lot of school in. A few of the things we did last week were
1. Make a list of B words
2. Went grocery shopping and found things that started with the letter B - Bananas, Bread.
3. Baked. Which went nicely with Thanksgiving
Here are Princess V and Princess C baking bread with Nana
