Michelangelo's Birthday

Day of Art

Wow what a fun day we had today! The Princess' loved waking up and having Nana still here from the night before. We started off looking at the weather and putting the Sunny sign up! Then we went for a bike ride. Sunny days make for happy kids.
When we came back inside we worked on our self portraits. Princess V drew each part of her face separate. So one paper had her head, one her lips, one her teeth and one her hair. I thought it was very creative of her. I attempted helping Princess C and we got something that looked like a round cartoon bird. Daddy even joined in the fun today!

After running some errands around town we came back to work on sculptures. Food sculptures that is. Once again Daddy joined in. His are by far the best!

Daddy's Dog. Oh yeah, it rocks!

For a little quiet time we pulled out Baby Einstein's Nursery Rhymes. The book has paired artwork with different nursery rhymes. For example, Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

If we had had more time we thought about putting paper under the table to color on, and recreate the Sistine Chapel. Lots of fun! One future day we will have to try this!
