Toddler Talk Thursday - Art

Where did the week go? I'm not too surprised another thursday slipped past me, but I wish they would stop doing that. For some reason I skip thursday quite often. It's like a millisecond and all of a sudden Wednesday has turned into Friday.

This weeks topic on Toddler Talk is Art.

Sadly I don't do as much art with the kids anymore.  When I started this blog it seemed to be all we did.  We even made this art gallery once

Then there was the time we made art out of fruit

I need to get back to that fun mom.  For now our "art" has been in the form of performing arts as we go to King Dad's concerts (which we did last night..Prince L's first concert).
What I'd really like to do is take a month to feature some famous artists with the Princesses and have them "recreate" the different styles in their own way.

Art is so important for the developing child. It's proven to help in ither academics through life. Even if they don't became famous artists or musicians, the exposure still greatly benefits them.

Nana and Opah's house

While waiting for Prince L to arrive, King Dad had to leave for day with the band. Poor planning on our part, but he couldn't not take the band on this day trip. We were only a few days away from Prince L's due date, so we headed to Nana and Opah's for the weekend to have help, just in case. The Princesses had a lot of fun, and I got some great naps in :)
Opah taught them eeny meeny miney moe.  It is absolutely hilarious to play with the Princesses now.

They got a lot of sunshine as well.

The week after Prince L was due, Nana drove up to pick up the Princesses once again.  This was the last picture of us before we became 6.

Princess R is 2

Yesterday my baby Princess turned 2. I was planning on writing her a letter, yesterday, but I spent the time playing with her instead.  So today I write to you Princess R.

Dear Princess R,
2 years ago you came into our lives.  1lb bigger than your sisters at birth, you are now the smallest little girl I know.  I sometimes forget that you're turning into a big girl, because to me you're still my baby.  2 years ago you looked like this
All smiles. You were a joy.  We struggled with sleep however. You didn't like it. Two years later, that hasn't changed too much. It's just been the past week that you've begun to sleep through the whole night. I may have complained some, but in reality I enjoyed many of those nights just snuggling with you.
With a new baby in the house, you've no longer been my baby. You've adjusted well, but as soon as I put Prince L down, you're ready to climb on my lap.  You make my heart melt and put a smile on my face as you've learned to be patient with me.

Here's a few of the things you like -
- Books. If I don't hear from you for a bit, I can almost guarantee I'll find you surrounded in a pile of books quietly flipping through the pages.
- Music. You love music. All kinds. If it's got a beat, you are up and dancing around with your sisters.
- Going Outside. We've had to keep the chain lock on the door just to keep you inside. You love opening the door and taking off for some sunshine and fresh air.  Even without the sun, you love to run into the rain and snow.

Happy Birthday Princess R!  I love you so much!!

Love,
Mommy

Toddler Talk - Sports Fan

This weeks topic - Sports Fan

We are big sports fans over here. Our main sport here is Baseball!  King Dad wasn't all that into baseball, until he met me. Growing up we'd have family baseball nights. It is one of my fondest childhood memories.
We quickly converted King Dad into a Red Sox Fan. One day we hope to go to Fenway and see a live game. Until then we will enjoy the more local games with the Salt Lake City Bees.
Princess V a couple years ago

Since we had kids while King was going to school still, our main college team to root for was the Utah State Aggies.  The football team was never that great while we were there, but we had a lot of fun at the games. Basketball was too, but a little too loud and wild to ever take the kids to.

We really enjoy sports here. With a Prince in the family now, I only see us enjoying sports even more.  King has already decided that our fall date will be to another Bee's game, but that Prince will be coming with us as well.

Prince L is here

Toddler Talk Thursday - Sick kids

"Parenting Toddlers" "Toddler Advice" "Toddler Meme"

I love saying this....We rarely ever get sick!! At least the nasty kinds of sick.
We get colds and allergies, but my kids just deal with those. We tough it out. Recently Princess R has had a runny nose, and some congestion. I figured it was just allergies, until I got it, ugh! Talk about a big mommy baby, lol.
For Princess R we just had one pretty rough night. Everytime she laid down she would go into a coughing fit and wake up. She finally was able to sleep though, and slept pretty soundly the rest of the night.
Mostly I stick to tylenol for fevers, and tough out anything else. Unless it's on going for a long time, and then we make a visit to the doctor to see if we need antibiotics or anything else.
My kids are pretty crazy. There are some days when they're sick and I just want to curl up in a blanket with them and watch movies all day. But my kids would rather still run around and play.  Despite my longing for some lazy days, I'm really pretty glad that my kids handle sickness well. They've got some tough immune systems!

Baby Shower and Guessing Game

Sorry I've been pretty inactive over here lately. The Princesses and I have been having a lot of fun, and I've used the camera a fair amount. But blogging here is just getting away from me! I'm going to try and be better again.
Today I have a special treat though.  I found this on my friends blog and thought it would be fun to do here. Take a guess at when Lincoln will be born! If you aren't aware, his due date was yesterday, and he's still hanging out in my tummy. So just follow this cool little link to make your guess :)

And now on to some pictures from the Baby Shower that Aunt M put on for me!

We had the shower on St Patricks day, so that's where the green theme comes in here.
