haircuts

I've really been slacking here lately.  So sorry about that!  Princess C and Princess V got their haircut by King Daddy this week. I personally would love for their hair to grow long, but every periodically he decides to cut it.  So I've tried to relax about it, and just let it happen. Amazingly enough, I was actually pretty excited when Princess C came to show off her new do for me. It really fits the shape of her head. So King Daddy, I give in, have fun cutting hair!
Ignore her tongue, she's taken habit of always sticking it out when the camera turns on.

On some other topics. We've been really busy getting ready for school to start. Princess V is starting Preschool at the elementary school next week, and Princess C is doing a coop Preschool with myself and some church friends. Are days are going to be pretty packed, but I think I'll lots of fun stuff to show off once they get into it! Princess R is just going to go along for the ride, and hopefully won't decide napping is too hard with the busy schedule. I still like those quiet times, and I'm not ready to give them up!

Toddler Talk Thursday - Reward Systems

Ok I know it's been awhile, but I'm back joining another Toddler Talk Thursday with Crazy About My Baybah, Family and Life in Las Vegas, and My Life As a Sippy Cup Mom.

This weeks topic is one I suggested-
Do you use a reward system/charts with your toddler? How’s it working out?

If you recall I posted about our Daddy Daughter Date charts. We were trying to combat whining.  It worked ok, but well King Dad decided to try a different route, and we just haven't gotten into it yet.
We've made some Daddy Dollars, and each time the Princess' do something on their chore chart, they will receive a certain amount of Daddy Dollars. They can then use those Dollars to purchase items from the Mommy Market.
Here's the problem, we've printed the Daddy Dollars, but I have yet to create the Chore Chart or the Mommy Market.  I really should get started on this!  In fact I think I'll make it today!

Other than this newest idea, we've done potty charts, chore charts, and brushing teeth charts.  Getting some kind of recognition each time we do these has really excited the Princess' into doing what they need to. Unfortunately we have a hard time sticking to any of these ideas.

You can see a great example of the Daddy dollar idea my friend made over on her blog For the Love of Learning.

New topic idea: What do you do when your kids stop taking naps?

Letter W, book of the week, and Science!

This week we're talking W's.  I always hear about the kids who always ask why.  My kids don't. So I really wanted them to start thinking, and wondering about the world around them.  We picked up the book Why is the Sky Blue? (Library of Why?) by Marian B Jacobs.  It's not really a fun kid read, it's all about the science behind it. So we read the book, and then did the science experiment inside.
We started with a clear glass full of water. We can see right through the water, because there are no particles in it. It's clear.

Then we added just a little water. Suddenly we can no longer see through the water. During the day we can't see the stars, because the sky is filled with particles that the sun is shining off of, creating a blue look (because it is a dominant color in our eye sight).

I personally learned a good deal during this mini lesson. It was lots of fun, and the Princess' asked if we could do it again.
