2010 Halloween

We had two parties to go to this year.  Last night our apartment complex had a party, and tonight was our church's neighborhood trunk or treat.  Only Princess V dressed the same both nights.  Last night Princess V and C were ballerinas.  Princess R was Alice in Wonderland.  Daddy was a pirate.  I was June Cleaver.

Tonight Princess V was again a ballerina, Princess C was a cowgirl...or Taylor Swift, Princess R was japanese along with myself, and Daddy was a cowboy...or Johnny Cash.

6 months

I can't believe Princess R is 6 months already!!!  Where has the time gone?  She is practically crawling, eats solids like a pro, and you can tell she knows whats going on around her.  We had her doctor appointment yesterday, and things went well.  I really love our new doctor, he's no Hyldahl, but we're lucky to have found Van Staden.  Princess R is just under the 50th percentile for every measurement, so she's doing good.  She weighs 14 lbs 10oz, is 26inches tall (I think, can't fully remember here), and her head is 41 1/2.  Her weight went a bit down for height to weight ratio, but the dr said that can happen when there's a diet change like adding solids, so we're not worried.  And then he is going to talk to his nurse because her head was 36 at her 4month check, and he really doesn't think it grew that much.  Her head is looking is fine, and all the doctors and therapists in Logan think she doesn't need therapy anymore, so we're done with that.  I hope they're right!  Here's some fun pics of the Princess to entertain you!

Jack O' Lanterns

We had a fun family night last night.  Daddy, Princess V and Princess C went to the store and got some pizaa for dinner, and pumpkins to carve.  Princess R and I stayed home, bceause she had her 6 month shots earlier in the day, and wasn't feeling real great.
We had a picnic with the pizza, and then Daddy had to go to a concert.  When he got home, the pumpkins were set up and the carving began. Here's some of the fun
 Silly Princess V
 The fun!
She wrote her name all by herself!!
Princess R did not want to be on the pumpkin.

Princess C has had some bug this last week, and she still didn't feel too great last night so this is what she was doing....
Sleeping on my lap.

When we were all done, this is what we had.  One for Princess V, Daddy and Princess R

Ghosts

Yesterday we had a ghostly day.  I drew a large Ghost on our chalkboard and told the Princess' a ghost had come to visit.  They thought that was fun, until Princess C erased him and said he was gone.  Then we made a chocolate pie.  I asked the Princess' if they thought a ghost might come eat some if we put it in the fridge.  While they were playing I added a whipped cream ghost to the top.  So when we checked again we had a ghost.  They weren't that impressed.  So we pulled out the box of Dum Dum suckers (we've had forever!) and made some sucker Ghosts.  Now that was an activity they enjoyed!  We let them color the faces and fly them around.  Princess R even wanted to get involved.
We wanted to end the evening going to Syracuse's annual Pumpkin walk, but on the drive over all 3 Princess' fell sound asleep.  So we drove around for a bit, and then just came home.  Maybe tomorrow night we can try again.

The Princesses

It was a typical Sunday morning.  Only today, I decided we'd attempt something other than ponytails with the girls hair.  I don't spend a lot of time during the week putting their hair up for a number of reasons, but Sunday I like to have it all done up nice.  Princess V and Princess C are getting fairly long hair.  I thought, let's try a braid.

World Food Day

The United Nations set aside today as a World Food Day to help recognize and raise awareness for the many in the world who go hungry.  To kick start our day we took some cans of food to the Utah Food Bank.  If you want to donate too, just follow this LINK to find the drop off location near you.
After that we made a quick trip to the library to get the books needed for our lessons this week.  Daddy and Princess C took a walk outside, while Princess V and R helped me get the books.
Once home we made some frozen chocolate covered bananas.
Princess R really wanted in on them too.  Check out how quickly she taught herself to "Crawl".  It's not the best video, but only because she moved way too fast before we could get the camera out!

For an afternoon activity we read Gregory, the Terrible Eater.  Then we made a list of what Gregory liked to eat and what he didn't, and then what the Princess' like and dislike.  Princess V then got to practice writing the word GOAT on the chalkboard.
We ended our World Food Day with a dinner cooked by Daddy.  Egg rolls, rice, squash and carrots, with sticky buns for dessert.  YUM!  The Princess' even ate the rice, and tried everything else.  Princess C seemed to really love her egg roll!

And just to show off, Princess R is also really working on sitting up!  She loves it!

Hats, Apples and The Things Kids Say

As our normal tuesdays go, we got up early and drove down to Nana and Opah's.  Only difference today was that Princess V was wide awake!  So I thought, hey, let's play a game.  Prnicess V do you want to play "I spy with my little eye?"  I got a very excited YES!  So I did a quick run down on how to play (we've never played before), and we got started.  I was surprised how quickly Princess V picked up on it.  A few things changed though -
1.  It became "I spy with my eye eye eye."
2.  Instead of describing what she saw she described something to find, as in "I spy with my eye eye eye a white car"  looking looking looking "Oh there's one!"  "Good job Mom!".  I love my kids.

Once we got here we got Princess V ready for preschool and sent her off.  Then as promised Prnicess C and R and I had more Columbus fun!  Check out our cool sailor hats!
Princess R is working on sitting up.  She loves to lean as far forward in her bouncer as she can and hold on to her toys.
When Princess V got home from preschool we started making applesauce.  Mmm mmm!  I had Princess V and Princess C help me wash the apples, and once I got them in the apple masher I had them help me crank the handle.  Unfortunately it was a little tough to crank, so I only got a little help from them.

Princess V was a very lucky little girl.  Nana and Opah had a wedding reception to attend and took Princess V with them.  Here they are on their way out.  I understand they had a lot of fun, and Princess V was a good girl.
Kids say the funniest things some times.  Today as Princess V was playing with Aunt A, she told her aunt that she is a girl person, and Uncle C is a boy person.  And boy people "do nothing".  I told Daddy that and he laughed and said it's true.  Later as we were having a pretend picnic with Aunt A Princess V started blowing a whistle at us.  She would stick one finger in her mouth and make this whistle like sound.  Aunt A and I weren't listening and we needed to.  Oh it was fun!

Columbus Day

Happy Columbus Day!

In case you're wondering why you're mail didn't come today, it's a holiday!  We had some extra kids over today, so we didn't do a ton to celebrate.  I printed off a few simple coloring pictures and told a short version on Christopher Columbus' story.  We had Christopher Columbus, the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria, and some pilgrims.  After we told the story each kid got to pick a picture to color.  It was lots of fun.

The actual day that Christopher Columbus arrived in the America's is October 12.  So tomorrow while Princess V is at preschool Princess C and I will do some more activities to celebrate.  Any ideas what we should do?

Fire Safety

This week is Fire Prevention Week!  So I was very excited to learn that the local fire stations would be having open houses with some fun stuff!  Here's a look at what we did tonight

Saw some clowns...I mean....Firefighters....the blue haired one is named Smokestack but the other one called him Tinkerbell because he had bells on his pants that jingled when he walked.

Stood next to a fire engine
"Boinged" in a bounce house (Princess V's terminology)
Put on the fireman's outfit, she was seriously stinking cute wearing it all!
And learned "Stop Drop and Roll"
Crawled through a smokey house and the BIG finish....
Rode in a fire truck!  That's Princess R and I in the front seat!

LDS General Conference

We had the wonderful opportunity to watch the LDS General Conference this past weekend and listen to a prophet's voice. It was difficult for the girls to sit and be quiet during it, but for the most part they did well.  We had some coloring/activity packets we got off scripture4kids.com that they really enjoyed.
Princess V fell sound asleep on her Aunt A the last little bit of it

Princess R became fascinated (distracted) by the light

Princess C had fun jumping around being Princess C and giving loves to her sister.
