Princess R -

Just thought I'd let everyone know -

Princess R ROLLED OVER TODAY!!!  Oh yeah, I'm a proud mommy!  We were having tummy time, and she was holding her head up for a really long time too, then she started kicking her legs a bunch, and voila, over she went.  I love my little cutie.

As a family we went on a beautiful walk.  We think we went about a mile, but it really didn't feel like it with all the fun we were having.  We saw a snake, some ducks, and people walking their dogs.  I mention the dogs because Princess C loved them the best.  She even tried being a dog herself, but the trails not real friendly to little kids bare knees.

Another accomplishment, all 3 Princess' are in bed, and fell asleep almost at the same exact time.  That was pretty nice!

Blessing Day

Princess R's Blessing Day

Yesterday we blessed Princess R.  We drove down to PG so the majority of our families could be there.  We are very grateful for our families that shared in this special day with us, and it was just that a special day.  I am so grateful for my beautiful little Princess.  She brings a light into my life I didn't know I was missing.

The whole weekend really was special.  On Saturday we were blessed to be a part of a family getting sealed.  Uncle M and Aunt N adopted a very handsome little boy and were able to be sealed to him.  They gave him a baby blessing saturday night.
Then Sunday afternoon we were once again able to be a part of another baby blessing.  Uncle T and Aunt R had their handsome baby boy blessed a few hours after Princess R was.

I want to express my gratitude for the knowledge of eternal families.  I am so thankful for my little family, and feel very blessed to be a part of some amazing extended families.  Thank you all for letting us take part in your special events this past weekend, and for being there for ours.

And here's a pic of the 3 special children

Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day!

I couldn't have asked for a better father to my children.  He is an amazing man, and loves his little Princess' so much.  Thanks Daddy for being AWESOME!!  We got up this morning and made a breakfast that didn't include milk or eggs.  Daddy seemed to enjoy it.  For dinner we're having Daddy and Grandpa's favorite - meatloaf and jello!  We feel very lucky to get to spend this Fathers Day with Daddy's Daddy as well.  We hope we can make it special.  So far the Princess' have colored some pretty cards for Grandpa this morning.

I also want to thank my Daddy for always being there.  You taught me love, compassion and respect.  I am ever grateful for the love of reading you instilled in me.  Many may claim they have the best Daddy in the world, but for me there couldn't have been anyone better! I love you Dad, and hope you are having a wonderful day!

Flag Day

Happy Flag Day
I Pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Princess R rocking out in her flag day attire
Princess C and V had an art project today.  While we made these flags we talked about the stars and stripes and their representation.  We also listened to The Star Spangled Banner while we worked.

This morning Princess V had her dance class.  Princess C and R and I went on a walk down main street.  We got over to the Town Hall and stopped to look at their flag.  I tried getting Princess C to say Stars and Stripes but she just liked the "tripes" and then wanted to talk about "Despereaux Tilley".  She's so funny.
Periodically through out the day I've attempted teaching the Pledge of Allegiance.  So far Princess V has repeated it back once.  Not bad.

Exercise Day

It has been awfully rainy or windy all week!  Ugh!  So we haven't been getting much running around time, and we were all going crazy!!!  Today I decided it would be all about exercise.  Once we got up and got going, this is what we did.

Jumping Jacks
London Bridges
Ring Around the Rosy
(repeat many times)

Red Light Green Light
Hide and go seek

Then we did some dancing in Princess R's room while daddy was so kind and set up an obstacle course for us.
Climb over the stool, jump down, go around the saxophone case, and crawl under the baby gate (UNDER we said, UNDER!!!)

Yep, she jumped off alright.  Smack into the saxophone case.  I think this captures the moment well don't you?  No worries, it didn't even phase her.

"See that mom?  See that?"  Yes I did, you went under!!

June 9th

Happy Birthday Donald Duck!!!
In honor of Donal Duck, we went to the local zoo and fed the ducks.

The Princess' had lots of fun.  Before going to bed we found the very first cartoon Donald Duck was in.
The Wise Little Hen.  Enjoy!!

Dance, Music and Therapy

What a day!!! Each Princess got their own little class today.

Princess V started her dance classes today. She is taking tap and ballet. We dropped her off and left for 1 hour. I was a little worried about her paying attention and following directions, but her teacher told me she did well. Sadly she won't show me any of what she learned. She sure is cute though!
While Princess V was in class Princess C went to Marching Band with dad. I'm not sure what she did there, but she came home wiped out. When she woke up she was a very happy smiley girl. I think she had lots of fun with Daddy.

Princess R had her own very special class today. Today Princess R went to physical therapy. About a week ago Princess R was diagnosed with plagiocephaly, or a flat head. We met with a physical therapist today who showed us what we can do to help fix it. She took some measurements, and did some observing. It was pretty interesting all we learned. She has a little tightness on one side of her neck so we have some stretches to help with that. We are also now using rice filled socks to position her. It causes her to keep her head on the opposite side so her head will round our more.

Art and Museums

It was a 2 day lesson, but we sure had fun. I received in the mail a copy of the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci and a copy of Water Lily Pond by Claude Monet. It was inspiration! On the back of each picture was some information about the painting, the artist and the time period. Using that info, I was able to give a decent mini lesson to the Princess' on the artwork. As soon as Daddy got home though it was time for some hands on experience.
Even Princess R tried her hand at it. (just kidding, she wouldn't even hold the brush)
After our painting excursion we set them out overnight to dry. This morning we put together our very own art museum. While putting it together we talked about how at museums you don't touch the art. You just look at it. Hopefully one day next week we will make it to a local museum to try out what we learned.

Geography and Music

While trying to decide what to teach the girls today, I decided to go to wikipedia.org and search out June 1st. I learned that June 1st was the day both Kentucky and Tennessee became states. Very cool! So we pulled out Princess V's 50 States book and had a geography lesson. It's a fun little board book that has all 50 states and little facts about each - state bird, flower, nickname, etc. We learned that Kentucky is the Bluegrass state, and Tennessee is country music USA. Princess V liked hearing about the Kentucky Derby horses.

I did two music lessons today. The first was just for Princess R. She and I were up a couple hours before everyone else this morning. So we listened to some Georg Muffat - a composer born on this day in 1653. You can hear samples of his work here at the bottom of the page.
While we were driving around running errands today I exposed the girls to a new style of music - Bluegrass. I have a cd that coincided very nicely with our geography lesson today - The Nashville Bluegrass Band. It really couldn't have been more perfect! Here is a link to their website http://www.nashvillebluegrassband.net/. You can even listen to some of their songs. Just click on discography and any of their cds. I suggest the cd Unleashed and the song "I got a date". I think I was around 10 or 12 when my parents took me to see them in concert. I loved it! I hope the Princess' can learn a wide array of music appreciation, by listening to many genres.
